About the programme
At the University of Oulu, the Sámi languages (North Sámi, Inari Sámi and Skolt Sámi) and Sámi culture are taught at the Giellagas Institute of the Faculty of Humanities. The aim of the subjects is to train experts in languages and culture for the needs of Sámi society. The studies also offer the opportunity for an international career in the Sámi region, which crosses the borders of the Nordic countries.
